Job Description

We are seeking a Trademarks Paralegal to join the current large team in the Trademarks Department (previous IP background is a bonus). This position, under the direction of attorneys and supervisors, will perform a variety of duties to our local and foreign trademark activities while working as part of a collegial team to service domestic and international clients.

Title: Trademarks Paralegal
Location: Amman – Jordan
Working Days: Saturday – Thursday
Working Hours: 8:00-8:30am TO 5:00-5:30pm
Term: 1 year contract, renewable every year
Contract Type: Full time
Start Date: Immediately
Notes: We have a “test-period” policy of 4 days where candidates will have the opportunity to get familiar with our firm and gain basic practical knowledge about our core practice. During this period, candidates will receive theoretical and practical training about our daily operations in general and about their job tasks in specific. Upon successful completion and consent between both parties, a 1 year contract will be signed, renewable every year.

Your Tasks

Your tasks will include formal administration in connection with the submission, processing, and management of trademarks as per the below:

  • Providing secretarial support to a Patent and Trademark Attorneys;
  • Preparing and filing trademark applications;
  • Analyzing and reviewing local and foreign trademark files;
  • Conducting trademark searches and other related transactions;
  • Coordinating with various local and foreign lawyers to support in trademark litigation cases;
  • Help in writing appeals and responses;
  • Diary management;
  • Maintaining filing systems;
  • Diarising important case dates;
  • Time recording;
  • Receiving clients’ instructions to submit trademarks applications;
  • Inserting client’s trademarks details in our in-house system;
  • Submission of trademarks applications in various countries according to the client’s instructions;
  • Monitoring and keeping track of deadlines;
  • Formal work and submission of trademarks applications;
  • Following up and corresponding with various bodies, including but not limited to associates, agents, and governmental departments;
  • Updating clients with their portfolio status;
  • Management and archiving of files;
  • Replying to communications received from clients regarding their portfolios via mail, email, and phone, and
  • Dealing with our in-house system to send reports and statistics to clients.

Required Skills

  • A subject-related educational qualification no less than a Bachelor degree, the subject can be business administration, management, business and IT, or anything that falls within this category;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English language;
  • Formal communication skills, and the ability to write and compose formal letters which will be a daily process to communicate with various bodies;
  • Knowledge of modern information technology and online services;
  • Ability to use the available technological resource (e.g. internet, computers, softwares) to extract information;
  • Excellent usage of a computer and its operating system (i.e. Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (e.g. Microsoft Office);
  • Ability to coordinate with various entities at the same time;
  • Ability to manage and maintain several portfolios for various clients at the same time, and
  • Good team player, honest, and willing to be cooperative with fellow colleagues.
