Industrial Designs - Filing Requirements


Industrial Design Filing Requirements
  • The name and address of each applicant.
  • The title of the design.
  • At least one figure of the design. A perspective view and all faces of the article should be shown, unless a face that is not shown can be described as the same as, or a mirror image of, a face that is shown. Two sets of unmounted photographs will be accepted instead of drawings, if they are clear and show only the article to which the design has been applied.
  • Priority details, if claimed.
  • Description to the design.
  • Information describing whether the inventors are employees working for the applicant or have been paid for their invention.

Notes
  • Late filing of documents: allowed, to be filed later without penalty.

A filing date can be obtained even if the figures do not conform to all of the formal requirements. Any necessary corrections must be made before the design can be registered.

Annuity Requirements
  • No documents are required.

Industrial Design Assignment
  • An affidavit or a copy of a document effecting the assignment.

Industrial Design Merger
  • An affidavit or a copy of a document effecting the merger.

Notes
  • Late filing of documents: not allowed.

Industrial Design Recordal of Change
  • No documents are required, only details of the change.

Industrial Design License
  • An affidavit or a copy of a document effecting the license.
