Internet which allowed the ability to accumulate all Iraqi web sites. Since 2004, the Communication and Media Commission (CMC) has started very intensified contacts with the international organization “ICANN” which is responsible for the allocation of the internet domains and addresses. It managed finally to launch the national code of Iraq “iq” on the Internet and to obtain a formal decision from the Organization emphasizing that the CMC in Iraq is exclusively authorized to manage the code. This is a breakthrough event in such a time Iraq currently goes through, an event that will inevitably lead to provision of opportunities for social, cultural, and economic development of the telecommunications and information technologies.
