The provisions of this Law shall protect the rights of authors in all creative intellectual works, whether literary, scientific or artistic in character and whatever their nature, form of expression, merit or purpose.

Translations, adaptations, transformations or arrangements of other works, and also anthologies or compilations of various works and data bases shall be considered intellectual works distinct from the original work where, owing to the selection or arrangement of their subject matter, they constitute personal creations.
