For applications which are still pending or under examination it is decided not to be pursed and considered as rejected.

Under these circumstance customers are advised to register their trademarks in class 32 for beers (alcoholic and non alcoholic), in class 16, as well as in class 43.

Oman Now Accepts Registration of Trademarks in Class 33 https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2003/05/oman-now-accepts-registration-of-trademarks-in-class-33/ https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2003/05/oman-now-accepts-registration-of-trademarks-in-class-33/#respond Sat, 10 May 2003 11:28:53 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?post_type=newsletter&p=3058 We are pleased to inform you that as of the beginning of April 2003, Oman Trademark Office (OTMO) started accepting applications in respect of “alcoholic beverages” in class 33.

This precedent was due to our efforts to register one of our clients’ trademarks in class 33. The (OTMO) rejected our application. Accordingly, we argued that since Oman joined the (WTO) and signed the GATT Agreement, this means that it approves to all recommendations, regulations, sub-agreements and any amendments thereto without any exception including TRIPS.

After considerable negotiations, the matter was referred to the Ministry of Trade and a Sultanate Decree was issued permitting the registration of alcoholic beverages in class 33.
