Previously, a trademark application could consist of a maximum number of 10 items in the list of goods and services. The new decree allows more items for an additional charge of 5% of the official publication fee for each additional item.

This decree went into effect in January 2025.

This comes with the “Saudi Arabia 2030” vision of reinforcing economic and investment activities and developing public service sectors.

The increased rates are more than 200% higher than the previous fee schedule and apply to trademark applications, renewals, and recordals.

The new fees went into effect in March 2022.

SAUDI ARABIA: VAT INCREASED FROM 5% TO 15% https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2020/05/saudi-arabia-vat-increased-from-5-to-15/ Sat, 23 May 2020 08:20:36 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?post_type=newsletter&p=10705/ RIYADH – The Minister of Finance, pursuant to the introduction of the Value Added Tax (VAT) of 5% in January 2018, has recently announced that the Ministry decided to raise the VAT amount from 5% to 15% to all goods and services provided in Saudi Arabia.

This increase in the VAT will be applied on trademark applications from 1 July 2020 and will only affect the official publication fees for all trademark actions (e.g., the publication of new applications, post-publication for recordals) since publications are conducted through a private independent company.

Our new schedule of charges will reflect the increase only in the official fees.

Yemen: Increase in Official Publication Fees https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2019/07/yemen-increase-in-official-publication-fees-2/ Mon, 29 Jul 2019 16:17:03 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?post_type=newsletter&p=10601/ SANA’A – This is to inform you that the Ministry of Industry & Trade in Yemen has issued a Ministerial Decree No. 47 of 2019 announcing an increase in the official publication fees for trademarks, patents, and industrial designs.

Publication of renewals and recordal filings will also be affected by the said increases, which are going to take effect on 8 August 2019.

Please note that the value of the Yemeni Riyal (YER) has dropped due to the current unrest, so when fees are converted to US Dollars, the increases do not have a substantial effect on the total price of prosecution; therefore, our schedule of charges will remain as is.

The decree was made known to IP agents on 1 October 2017, and will become effective on 15 October 2017 affecting applications pending publication, as follows:

It is worth mentioning that renewals with respect to trademarks filed or renewed before April 2007 will be published twice, the first time after acceptance and the second time after issuing the registration or renewal certificate. While renewals with respect to trademarks filed or renewed after April 2007, there will be only one publication after acceptance.
