The increase took effect on 1 January 2022. Please note that our schedule of charges will reflect the increase only for the official fees.

SAUDI ARABIA: VAT INCREASED FROM 5% TO 15% https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2020/05/saudi-arabia-vat-increased-from-5-to-15/ Sat, 23 May 2020 08:20:36 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?post_type=newsletter&p=10705/ RIYADH – The Minister of Finance, pursuant to the introduction of the Value Added Tax (VAT) of 5% in January 2018, has recently announced that the Ministry decided to raise the VAT amount from 5% to 15% to all goods and services provided in Saudi Arabia.

This increase in the VAT will be applied on trademark applications from 1 July 2020 and will only affect the official publication fees for all trademark actions (e.g., the publication of new applications, post-publication for recordals) since publications are conducted through a private independent company.

Our new schedule of charges will reflect the increase only in the official fees.

ABU DHABI – The UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs will apply a 5% Value Added Tax (VAT) starting on 1 January 2018 by the Federal Decree Law No 8 of 2017.

Therefore, said VAT will constitute a pass through charge for such matters and will be reflected on affected invoices starting from the effective date and will be applied on all un-billed work as well as new matters.

Registration of Trademarks:
The Trademark Office of UAE has started issuing registration certificates electronically for the applications published in the Official Gazette number 180 dated 27 September 2017 onwards. This procedure was entered into force on 27 November 2017.
