Effective 10 October 2024, users can select items from the 12th Edition of the Nice Classification through the online filing portal.

This has also opened the possibility of selecting ten (10) items from the list of goods instead of four (4) items. Applications pending examination may be amended to include up to ten (10) items.

The new regulation states that new applications must include specific items for the goods and services in the List of Goods and Services as the general class heading is no longer accepted.
Said decision was effective on 6 July 2016.

Yemen – Increase in the Official Fees https://njq-ip.com/yemen-increase-in-the-official-fees/ https://njq-ip.com/yemen-increase-in-the-official-fees/#respond Wed, 27 Jul 2011 11:18:52 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?p=2897 Yemen – NJQ, It has been approved yesterday by the Yemeni Council of Ministers to increase the official fees for Trademarks, Patents, and Industrial Designs by 100% of the original charges.

It worth mentioning that, according to the new regulations, all official fees must be paid at filing stage.

This increase is expected to be effective within the next few days; we shall circulate a copy of the official decree immediately upon issuance.

According to the above, we recommend our clients and associates to proceed with any pending applications immediately before applying these new fees to avoid payment at high rates.

Yemen – New Trademark Law https://njq-ip.com/yemen-new-trademark-law/ https://njq-ip.com/yemen-new-trademark-law/#respond Fri, 26 Nov 2010 16:44:36 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?p=2577 A new Trademark and Geographical Indication Law has been issued on 22 November 2010 by a decree from the President Ali Abedllah Slaeh. The said law will become effective after three months from its issuance.

This new law, which is believed to be in parallel with Yemen’s plans to join WTO, encompasses new procedures, definitions, provisions, and regulations regarding trademarks.

The main features of the law can be summarized as follows:

  • The opposition period will be reduced to three months instead of 6 months.
  • A grace period of one year to renew registered trademarks.
