Turkey – Authentication of Invoices Related to Trademark Registrations by Turkish Embassy

NJQ Jordan – Please be informed that any Turkish company, used our services for trademark registrations in any country and needs the authentication of its invoices by Turkish Consulate, is now possible, provided that they send a letter to us directed to your consulate in Jordan requesting to do so, the letter should include our invoices numbers, amount, trademark(s), and country.

Furthermore, our fees to do so will be €35 (approximately USD $50) for each visit to your consulate.

Jordan – Cancellation Action Against Unauthorized Registration of Trademark ECHO Finalized

After two years of initiating cancellation procedures, the Trademark Office decided that the registration of trademark ECHO under No.77540 in class 18 by the Jordanian trader Mr. RAMI DARGHMEH constitutes violation to the Trademark Law and ruled finally that the said registration be expunged from Register.

Earlier in 2008, The Echo Design Group, Inc, the registered owner of the well-known trademark ECHO which has been used and registered in several countries of the world, initiated a cancellation action against the registration made by the aforesaid Jordanian trader, based on his earlier use of the said trademark in Jordan and world wide and the trademark to be crossed out is an exact copying of the trademark ECHO.

The Registrar of Trademarks concluded that Mr. RAMI’s registration of the said trademark is identical to the trademark ECHO and its registration will cause damages to the lawful owner and will unavoidably create public confusion.

Jordan – Domain Names Registration with (.jo in Arabic) for Local and Global Trademarks

The National Information Technology Center in Jordan confirmed that the second phase for registration of domain names in Arabic ending with (.jo in Arabic “الاردن.”) is now open for owners of local and global trademarks. The said registration shall be available until December 4, 2010 within the second marketing stage for encouraging the registration of domain names in Arabic.

Proprietors of local and foreign brand names can now have their own trademarks be registered as domain names in Arabic without the need to have them translated into English.

Registration can be made online through the NITC website www.idn.jo.

It worth mentioning that Jordan has earlier obtained approval from ICANN to register domain names in non Latin Language (Arabic Language).

The registration of domain names in Arabic for companies names or their own trademarks is expected to encourage these corporations to have their trademarks registered and will pave the way for Arabic language to be a global business language.

Royal Decree Approving the Reduction in Official Filing Fees in Jordan

AMMAN – JORDAN, Royal Decree Approving the Reduction in Official Filing Fees from 16 May 2010.

A Royal Decree has been issued approving the amended regulations for trademarks, effective from 16 May 2010. According to the decree, the reduction in the official fees has been published in the Official Gazette no. 5030 and became effective from its publication date on (i.e. 16 May 2010).

Now you can go to Countries, then choose Jordan, from there you will find a new item named ASEZA Trademark Requirements, from there you can learn more about the ASEZA and the requirements to file a trademark in that economic region of Jordan.

Jordan – IDN ccTLD Delegations Will be Approved by the ICANN Board

Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) registration will be available shortly in Jordan as it has completed all technical conditions and qualifications set by ICANN for registering Arabic domain names to use the primary language script “Arabic” for the final portion of the Internet address names – the country code top-level domains (ccTLD).

Within the coming few months it will be possible to Register Arabic Jordanian domain names like الاردن.com and others. This will break the monopoly of Latin language for registering domain names and will open the world’s eyes on the Arabic language and it variations.

Official Fees for Registering a Trademark in Jordan

Regarding the increase in the official fees, and after a couple of meetings with the Government assured the Trademarks Agents that the prices will be revised and decreased to an acceptable level. However this reduction is expected to take effect once published in the Official Gazette.
