Kuwait – Trademark Renewals Go Online https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2018/10/kuwait-trademark-renewals-go-online/ Thu, 25 Oct 2018 11:28:37 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?post_type=newsletter&p=10517/ KUWAIT CITY – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the commencement of receiving and processing trademark renewal applications in electronic form, which can now be filed online.

Since the system is very new, the information of registered trademarks may not be complete, so applicants or their agents are requested to complete any missing details of a registration upon renewal.

Finally, renewal certificates will be issued as normal, i.e., via hardcopy, but they are expected to be issued in digital form in a few months.

Kuwait – Changes in Renewal and Recordal Practice https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2017/12/kuwait-changes-in-renewal-and-recordal-practice/ Tue, 12 Dec 2017 06:27:01 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?post_type=newsletter&p=10416/ KUWAIT CITY – The Trademark Office (TMO) in Kuwait announced that renewal and recordal applications will no longer be endorsed on their respective original registration certificates. In addition, the TMO will issue separate certificates for such actions. The original certificate, however, must be provided upon filing.

Recordal applications include changes to name, changes of address, assignments, and mergers.

As per the previous practice, renewals and recordals were endorsed onto the back of the original registration certificate without the issuance of a recordal or renewal certificate.

Morocco – Updates on Trademark Renewals https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2017/02/morocco-updates-on-trademark-renewals/ https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2017/02/morocco-updates-on-trademark-renewals/#respond Mon, 27 Feb 2017 10:13:50 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?post_type=newsletter&p=10240/ Per a recent update in the Moroccan Trademark Office, the request for a trademark renewal must contain all classes associated with that trademark registration. Since Morocco follows multi-class filing system, registrants were able to renew a trademark registration for certain classes and/or items within a particular class; however, now this is no longer acceptable. A trademark can only be renewed on all of its original classes and items.

Algeria – New Renewal Requirement https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2006/01/algeria-new-renewal-requirement/ https://njq-ip.com/newsletters/2006/01/algeria-new-renewal-requirement/#respond Tue, 10 Jan 2006 14:13:57 +0000 https://njq-ip.com/?post_type=newsletter&p=7460 This is to advise that the Algerian Trademark Office, Institut National Algerian De La Propriete Industrielle (INAPI) has started to require a proof of use of the mark during the last year before expiration of the mark as a condition for accepting the renewal. This recent requirement is based on the new Trademark Law issue in 19 June 2003, published on August 2005, which states that renewal application must accompany all means, instruments and proofs of use to give evidence that the mark has been in use in Algeria during the exceeding year of renewal date.

In spite of the face that Law was issued during 2003 and publication date is 7 August 2008, the INAPI has started to ask for the said documents as of the January 2006.

The INAPI did not yet specify what proofs or documents are needed to support the renewal application. After several negotiations with INAP, a simply signed Declaration of Use printed on the letterheads of the applicant company will be one of the most acceptable instruments (document).
