Patents - Filing Requirements


Patent Filing Requirements
  • Power of attorney simply signed.
  • Description, title, claims, abstract, and figures.
  • Statement of ownership (this applies if the applicant is not the inventor).
  • Priority document of earlier applications if applicable.
  • The name and address of the applicant, the name(s) and address(es) of the inventor(salong with their nationalities. The applicant should state how the patent was assigned to him (contracts of employment or by virtue of an assignment).

  • Late filing of documents: not allowed.

Annuity Requirements
  • No documents are required.

Patent Assignment
  • Power of attorney simply signed.
  • Deed of assignment document notarised.
  • Corporate registry document (to assign an agent on record).

  • Power of attorney simply signed.
  • Merger agreement document notarised.
  • Corporate registry document.

Patent Recordal of Change
  • Power of attorney reflecting the change, simply signed.
  • Notarised document attesting the change.

Patent License
  • Power of attorney simply signed.
  • License agreement document notarised.
