In March 2015 the Information & Communications Technology Authority (ICTA) announced several changes to the management of the .KY domain and encouraged everyone in the Cayman Islands who wanted a .KY domain to secure it before the registry became accessible to the world in September 2015. On 2 September 2015 the .KY domain launched globally allowing anyone in the world to register a dot KY domain on a first-come, first-served basis.
