Copyrights - General Information


    The duration of copyright protection depends upon the identity of the author or authors, when the work was created, and when the federal copyright protection was first obtained. Generally, for works created on or after January 1, 1978, the following terms apply:

    1- A work of an individual author is protected for the life of the author plus 70 years.
    2- Joint works prepared by two or more authors are protected for the life of the last surviving author plus 70 years.
    3- Anonymous works, pseudonymous works and works made for hire are protected for 95 years from the date of publication or 120 years from the date of creation, whichever is shorter.
