The United Republic of Tanzania consists of 2 zones, Tanganyika and Zanzibar, both have joined together to form the Republic of Tanzania, no unified Registry or IP Law has been enacted, in order to obtain comprehensive protection, registration have to be obtained in both jurisdictions.

Customs registration is only possible where the information concerning the possible importation of counterfeit goods is available. In many cases the information regarding the counterfeit goods is obtained and given to Fair Competition Commission (FCC) by the trademark owners themselves. The information will then be given to the Customs office. After receiving the details of the container or the bill of lading from FCC, the Custom office will seize the container upon its arrival at the port and notify FCC. FCC together with the agent of the trademark owner will inspect the goods in order to verify whether the goods are counterfeit or not.

With the help of the Fair Competition Commission (FCC) it is also possible to arrange with the Customs office to have FCC informed of any consignment containing the counterfeit products.

The documents needed are those documents or information that will enable the Custom to track the counterfeit goods which are in transit and there is no extension of time, logically, you only have to bring the documents so the tracking is easy and before the container or the goods have been released.
