The trademark law in Suriname is nearly similar to the trademark statute that was in force in the Netherlands before the Benelux Trademark was adopted by July 1,1969.

A trademark application has to be filed before the Bureau of Intellectual Property Ministry of Justice and Police by a local agent. A notarized power of Attorney is necessary.
