Trademarks - Filing Requirements


Filing Requirements
  • Power of attorney, legalised by the Guatemalan Consulate.
  • Certified copy of the priority document if claimed.

Notes
Late filing of the power of attorney (PoA) is acceptable and there are no penalty fees for the late submission nor there a set deadline to do so. Nevertheless, the trademark registration process will not proceed until the PoA is furnished.

Renewal Requirements
  • Power of attorney, legalised by the Guatemalan Consulate.

Notes
  • Late filing of documents: allowed within 12 months from filing date without penalty.

Assignment Requirements
  • Power of attorney, legalised by the Guatemalan Consulate.
  • Deed of assignment document signed by the assignor and assignee, legalised by the Guatemalan Consulate.

Merger Requirements
  • Power of attorney, legalised by the Guatemalan Consulate.
  • Merger agreement document.

  • Document attesting the change, legalised by the Consulate.
