Works shall be protected, when they are fixed or otherwise reduced to material form, irrespective of their mode or form of expression or their content, quality or purpose.

The protection of a work shall be without prejudice to the protection of a pre-existing work or traditional cultural expression or expression of folklore incorporated in or utilised for the making of such work.
