The patent registration applicant may within three months from the date of depositing his request, submit a request to amend the specifications of the invention, or his architectural drawing, accompanied with a statement on the nature of the amendment, and its reasons, provided that the amendment does not alter the invention itself, or exceed what was pronounced in the original request or the protection requests.

The Directorate shall examine the request and the attached documents to ascertain the presence of the legal requirements listed in this Law and its Executive List, and the formality conditions together with the requested documents may be completed within three months from the date of submitting the request, with the exception of the fees delay which shall incur a delay fee for each month, and a fraction of a month shall be considered a whole month. The request shall be considered null and void in the event of incompletion of the requested formality conditions by the expiry of the said time duration.
