Patents

A patent may be granted only for an invention in respect of which the following conditions are satisfied:

(1) the invention is new;

(2) it involves an inventive step; and

(3) it is capable of industrial application.

(3) An invention is new if it does not form part of the state of the art.

An invention shall be taken to be capable of industrial application if it can be made or used in any kind of industry, including handicrafts, agriculture and commerce.
