Trademarks - Filing Requirements


Filing Requirements
  • Power of attorney legalised by the Yemeni Consulate.
  • Certified copy of the certificate of incorporation or an extract from the commercial register with its Arabic or English translation.
  • Certified copy of the priority document if claimed.

Notes
  • Late filing of documents: allowed within 30 days from filing date.
  • Extension of time for late filing of documents: not allowed.

The priority document can be submitted after filing the application without time limit and this transaction will not incur any costs.

Renewal Requirements
  • Power of attorney legalised by the Yemeni Consulate.
  • Copy of the certificate of incorporation or an extract from the commercial register showing the company number, activities, and date of incorporation, with its Arabic or English translation.
  • Copy of the registration certificate.
  • Copy of the last renewal certificate.

Notes
  • Late filing of documents: not allowed.
  • Extension of time for late filing of documents: not allowed.

Search Requirements
  • No documents are required.

Assignment Requirements
  • Power of attorney signed by the assignee, legalised by the Yemeni Consulate.
  • Deed of assignment document legalised by the Yemeni Consulate.
  • Copy of the registration certificate or the last renewal certificate.

Notes
  • Late filing of documents: not allowed.
  • Extension of time for late filing of documents: not allowed.

Merger Requirements

Notes
The Trademark Law in Yemen has no provisions regarding trademark merger. It is possible to file a trademark assignment application instead.

Recordal of Change
  • Power of attorney under the new name or address, legalised by the Yemeni Consulate.
  • Copy of the certificate of incorporation or extract from the commercial register reflecting the change of name or address.
  • Copy of the registration certificate or the last renewal certificate.

  • Late filing of documents: not allowed.
  • Extension of time for late filing of documents: not allowed

License Requirements
  • Power of attorney signed by the licensee, legalised by the Yemeni Consulate.
  • License agreement document with Arabic or English translation, legalised by the Yemeni Consulate.
  • Copy of the registration certificate or the last renewal certificate.
