- Annuities: industrial designs are protected for five years, this term can be extended by two further periods of five years each making the total protection period is 15 years. Renewal fees should be paid within 6 months before the expiration date with a grace period of 6 months for late payment with penalty. The renewed design will keep the same number of the original preceded by capital letter R for the first renewal and 2R for the second renewal.
