• Period of protection of a patent: 16 years.
• Annuities: no annuity payments are required. A patentee may request an extension of the protection of 5 or 10 years within six months before the expiry of the term.
• Allowed time to submit the assignment deed from the date of signing the agreement: no time restrictions.

Even though Guyana is a member of Paris Convention, there are no provisions for claiming priority.
