Copyright Filing for Written Materials
  • Power of attorney simply signed.
  • Photocopy of the certificate of incorporation or an extract from the commercial register if the applicant is a proprietor.
  • Two copies of the work.

  • Late filing of documents: not allowed.

If the work applied for registration is:
1- An ornamental design (Classification H), the application should be accompanied with a technical description of the design.
2- A published work (which mean that the work has been disseminated to the public prior to its registration with the copyright office), then it is required to submit two printed copies with copyright notice printed on the front or the back of the title page if it is a book and on any conspicuous space thereof if non-book material.
3- An unpublished work (which means that the work has not been disseminated to the public at the time of the registration), then it is required to submit two manuscripts and/or photocopies of the work without the copyright notice.

If a third party is claiming the ownership of the copyright of a book other than the author, the author as the original copyright owner should waive his/her copyright in writing and under oath in favor of the claimant. The copyright waiver should be attached to the application.

Philippine is a member of Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and copyright owners from countries that are parties to this Convention do not require registration.
