Extension of time may be made however the period allowed is purely at the registrar’s discretion and depends on the circumstances in each case.

Please be informed that a trademark is not necessarily registered with Customs, but a proprietor of a registered trade mark may give notice in writing to the Director of Customs and excise requesting the Director to treat as prohibited goods grown, produced or manufactured outside Zimbabwe and to which there has been applied a trade mark identical to the registered mark or so nearly resembling a registered mark.

Kindly note that the period for such prohibition will not exceed 5 years and shall not extend beyond period for which the trade mark is registered. Note further that the Director will require security in order for him to secure fulfillment of any liability or any other expenses that may be incurred in this regard. The official amount required will only be made available upon giving actual notice to the Director and furnishing him with a copy of the registered mark as there is no set fee.
