Trademarks - Filing Requirements


Filing Requirements
  • Power of attorney legalised, or apostilled.
  • Legalised (or apostilled) copy of the priority document if claimed.

Notes
  • Late filing of documents: not allowed.

Registration with Customs Duty is not applicable in Saudi Arabia, but however, it is possible to file a complaint against counterfeited products. Please note that the trademark should be registered in the Saudi Trademark Office in order to file a complaint.

Renewal Requirements
  • Power of attorney legalised, or apostilled.
  • Photocopy of the trademark registration certificate.

Assignment Requirements
  • Power of attorney signed by the assignee legalised, or apostilled.
  • Deed of assignment document legalised., or apostilled
  • Photocopy of the registration certificate.

Merger Requirements
  • Power of attorney signed by both parties legalised, or apostilled.
  • Merger agreement document legalised, or apostilled.
  • Photocopy of the registration certificate.

Notes
  • Late filing of documents: not allowed.

Recordal of Change
  • Power of attorney reflecting the new name/address legalised, or apostilled.
  • Certificate of change of name legalised, or apostilled. (only required for change of name)
  • Photocopy of the registration certificate.

License Requirements
  • Power of attorney signed by the licensee legalised, or apostilled.
  • License agreement document legalised, or apostilled.
  • Photocopy of the registration certificate.
