Industrial Design Filing Requirements
- Power of attorney notarized.
- Extract from the commercial register or the Memorandum of Association notarized.
- Two copies of the design model if it is a two–dimensional design or two copies of each view for a three-dimensional design.
- Deed of assignment document signed by the inventor notarized if the applicant is not the inventor.
- Certified copy of the priority document, if claimed.

- Late filing of documents: not allowed.
Stamp of a UAE public entity (e.g. government organisations, national universities) is regarded as equivalent to notarization.
If the inventor is an employee of a UAE company, it is possible to submit the certificate of employment or a copy of the employment contract as an alternative to the deed of assignment.

Annuity Requirements

Annuity applications must be filed on each anniversary of the industrial design filing date, starting with the second annuity until the tenth.
The filing of an annuity application can be made on or before the due date. A grace period of three (3) months is granted for the late filing of the annuity applications at no additional fee.
An extension of 3 months period is allowed after the expiry of the first 3 months grace period for the late annuity filing with a payment of a monthly penalty fee.
Moreover, there are no annuity official fees. The Emirati Patent Office waives the official fees for annuities. However, our fees are US$100 for filing the annuity application.
