Trademarks - Filing Requirements


Filing Requirements
  • Power of attorney legalised or apostille.
  • Copy of the commercial register or the trade license if the applicant is a local national.
  • Copy of the commercial register or the trade license if the applicant is not local national, legalised or apostille.
  • Certified copy of the priority document if claimed.

Notes
If the legalised document is not ready at the time of filing, we can file the non-legalised copy and then provide the legalised document within three (3) months.

Renewal Requirements
  • Power of attorney legalised or apostille.
  • Photocopy of the registration certificate.

Search Requirements
  • No documents are required.

Assignment Requirements
  • Power of attorney signed by the assignor, legalised or apostille.
  • Power of attorney signed by the assignee, legalised or apostille.
  • Deed of assignment document signed by the assignor and assignee, legalised or apostille.
  • Copy of the certificate of incorporation or extract from the commercial register, legalised or apostille.

Merger Requirements
  • Power of attorney, legalised or apostille.
  • Merger agreement document signed by both parties, legalised or apostille.
  • Copy of the certificate of incorporation or extract from the commercial register, legalised or apostille.

Recordal of Change
  • Power of attorney, legalised or apostille.
  • A letter from the proprietors addressed to the Registrar of Trademark in Bahrain stating their request to effect the change of name or address.

License Requirements
  • Power of attorney signed by the licensee and licensor, legalised or apostille.
  • License agreement document signed by the parties, legalised or apostille.

Notes
It is possible to record change transactions (name, address, assignment, merger, etc) either for applications under examination (before issuing an acceptance decision for publication by the Trademark Office) or for registered trademarks.
