This is to advice that a Ministerial Decree number 541 was issued on 17 November 2009.
The content of which are:
- Publication and registration fees for a trademark application must be paid within 30 days from the date of the issuance of the notification of acceptance. Failing to do so will subject the application to a penalty of late payment of publication fees of AE50 per month, and registration fees of AE500 per month with no maximum limit.
- Registration fees are refundable any time before the end of the opposition period, which is 30 days from the publication date.
It is worth mentioning that publication fees are AE500 (US $137) and registration fees AE5000 (US $1370).
In this regards the trademark’s applicants are requested to settle the trademark registration fees in a certain period of time to avoid the aforementioned extra charges.
