It has been announced that the official fees in respect of trademarks will be increased in Australia as of 1 October 2012.
The cost of filing an application per class will become AU$200 instead of AU$160.
However, the Australian IP office is introducing reduced filing fees for applications filed using the pre-approved goods and services classification pick-list. This reduction is an attempt to reduce administrative costs associated with the correction of applications with incorrect specifications. On the other hand, this pick-list may not be the best option for trademarks with complex specifications.
Another increase in official fees will be imposed on the registration fees for the issuance of the final registration certificate. The new fee will become AU$300 instead of AU$250, and this will take effect from 1 July 2012.
Finally, please bear in mind that our professional fees will remain the same.
