RABAT – On 22 April 2022, the Government of Morocco deposited with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs (“1999 Act or Geneva Act”).
The 1999 Act will come into force on 22 July 2022.
Thus, from the 2022 date, Moroccan applicants can protect their industrial designs in all other 93 member states of the Hague System. And applicants from other countries can designate Morocco through the Geneva Act.
It is worth mentioning that the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs provides a practical business solution for registering up to 100 designs in 77 contracting parties covering 94 countries, through the filing of a single international application.
