Oman – Patent Requirements Revised

Omani Patent Office (OPO) has revised the PCT national phase requirements at the beginning of the year 2008, and reduced them to:

1. A power of attorney duly legalized up to the Oman Consulate.
2. International Publication Sheet.
3. International Search Report.
4. Specifications, claims, abstract and drawings in English with an Arabic translation thereof.
5. FIVE (5) PCT Preliminary Examination Report.

Notes:

• Arabic translation of the specifications, claims, drawing and Abstract can be filed within 3 months form the date of application.
• Application must be filed within 30 months from original filing date.
• Documents required in 2, 3 and 5 must be submitted at the time of filing.
• Specifications, claims, abstract and drawings in English with an Arabic translation thereof.
• Power of attorney and Arabic translation can be submitted within 3 months from the date of filing.
