As of 1 May 2011, any trademark application filed on or after this date will be subject to an opposition period of three (3) months from the date of publication in the official gazette. Previously, there was no opposition stage and any interested party could file a cancellation action at the court.
According to the above, any trademark filed before the said date can be contested by a third party by means of submitting a cancellation action at the court.
