Earlier, any application containing pictorial representations of living creatures used to be opposed by a religious organization, the General Presidency for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (GPPVPV) on the basis that pictorial representations are against religious principles.
As a serious conflict is raised between the STMO which accepts such registrations and the (GPPVPV) that opposes them and due to several complaints filed by different interested parties, the Board of Grievances has issued an audacious decision to allow the registration of these trademarks and that they do not affect the religious morality in any way.
Accordingly, any opposition brought up by any group will be refused by the Saudi Courts which paves the way for the issuance of registration certificates for the previously rejected trademarks by the Trademark Office.
With this, the six years of unreasonable opposition has come to an end.
