New trend at Syrian Trademark Office
The newly appointed registrar of the Trademark Office is now following a new procedure. If a photocopy of a registration certificate is submitted at the time of filing, this will help in the acceptance of the mark, as well as expedite its processing.

Moreover, the government has submitted a new intellectual property law to the parliament for approval, its main aspects are:

1. Shifting to an examination system.
2. New stage of opposition will be available before registration, after publication. After the mark is accepted, a registration certificate will be issued, and then published, subject to cancellation before the court of first instant within five years.
3. The official fees will be increased dramatically.
