The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) in Venezuela has announced that late filing of a Power of Attorney (POA) is not acceptable and all applications must be accompanied by the POA. This decree was issued in March 2011 and became effective at the beginning of April 2011, and now all applications without the required POA will not be accepted.
We recommend our clients to prepare the legalization of the Power of Attorney beforehand in case a foreign priority is to be claimed. It is worth mentioning that photocopies of the power will be rejected.
