DOHA – The Minister of Economy and Trade has issued Ministerial Decree No. 410 in 2014 deciding the official fees with respect to intellectual property rights, namely patents and copyrights. The Decree date is 2 December 2014, which circulated on 12 January 2015 with an immediate effect thereof.
We note that the patent law was issued by Decree Law No. 30 in 2006, however, the implementing regulations deciding the official fees were not issued.
The Decree also includes a stipulation that official patent filing fees must be paid along with the application and late payments are no longer accepted.
Applications filed before Decree No. 410 went into effect and hence were filed without payment of official fees, should be settled within 30 days 12 February 2015.
The schedule of the Official fees have four categories:
- Students;
- Individuals;
- Educations and research corporations/institutions, and
- Companies and entities.
