RIYADH – The Minister of Finance, pursuant to the introduction of the Value Added Tax (VAT) of 5% in January 2018, has recently announced that the Ministry decided to raise the VAT amount from 5% to 15% to all goods and services provided in Saudi Arabia.
This increase in the VAT will be applied on trademark applications from 1 July 2020 and will only affect the official publication fees for all trademark actions (e.g., the publication of new applications, post-publication for recordals) since publications are conducted through a private independent company.
Our new schedule of charges will reflect the increase only in the official fees.
