CAIRO – The Egyptian Authority for Intellectual Property (EGIPA) has issued Decision No. 26 of 2025, implementing a significant change in the official patent examination fee. The fee has doubled, increasing from EGP25,000 (US$480) to EGP50,000 (US$1,017).
Moreover, such fees must now be paid within 3 months of EGIPA notification, sooner than the previous 6‑month window counted from filing. If unpaid by the deadline, the application will be suspended until full payment is made, including late fees.
The decision was published in the Official Gazette on 17 June 2025 and became effective on 18 June 2025.
