ABU DHABI – The Ministry of Economy has issued Administrative Decision No. (2) of 2026, which introduces a temporary measure allowing additional time for the submission of legalised documents for trademark applications.
Under the current rules, applicants must submit the legalised Power of Attorney (POA) within 90 days from the filing date. According to the new decision, when applicants are unable to meet this deadline, monthly extensions may be granted for a period of 30 days each.
Such extensions may be requested, provided that the request is submitted before the expiry of the granted period. No additional official fees will apply to these extensions.
This measure aims to provide greater flexibility for applicants facing delays in the legalisation of documents, particularly in cross-border matters.
The decision came into force on 25 March 2026.
