Lebanon – Trademark Examination

The Lebanese Intellectual Property Protection Office has issued new regulations by which it started:

1. Conducting searches and carefully examining trademarks against its database prior to accepting any application.
2. If it becomes evident that the trademark under consideration is previously registered in the name of another entity, the applicant of the subject mark is requested to sign the document attesting his knowledge of the cited registration. The said document is filed with the application at the Intellectual Property Protection Office.
