New ministerial decision No. 360 dated 1 July 2009, effective from the date of publication i.e. 30 July 2009, regulates the payment of official fees in respect of publication of trademarks accepted at the Trade Mark Journal and for registration fees.
The main aspects are:
Article 1
Publishing fees have to be paid within 30 days from the date of the acceptance notification.
Article 2
Publishing fees for applying to make amendments/additions to a registered trademark (that does not have substantial changes on its form or on the list of goods) must be paid within 30 days from the acceptance date.
Article 3
Registration fees in respect of published applications and where the opposition period has expired or a decision of opposition was issued (and not appealed) must be paid within 30 days.
Article 4
The Trademark Department should notify the applicant with the contents of the above articles Nos. 1, 2 and 3 along with each notification of acceptance sent to him or its representative.
