On behalf of our client, we filed an application for registration for DELINTE on 30 December 2013 in Morocco in class 12. The application was assigned serial number 156641, and was then published in the Moroccan Official Gazette on 23 January 2014 subject to the opposition period of 60 days.
PT INDUSTRI KARET DELI, an Indonesia company, filed an opposition against our client’s application based on alleged similarities in pronunciation and general appearance with their registered trademark “Deli Tire” in Morocco, registered on 19 October 2010.
We submitted a counter statement based on the lack of definite similarity between both marks.
The Moroccan Trademark Office issued its decision in our client’s favour, dismissed the opposition, and allowed the application to proceed to registration.
