DOHA – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Qatar has announced the launch of five new electronic intellectual property services, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance digital transformation and improve the efficiency of IP-related procedures.
The newly introduced services relate to copyright and neighbouring rights, bringing the total number of online IP services available through the Ministry’s platform to seven.
The new services include:
- Applications for certificates of deposit and protection for copyright and neighbouring rights;
- Requests for “To Whom It May Concern” certificates;
- Requests for extracts of copyright certificates;
- Amendments to copyright applications, and
- Recordal of assignment and transfer of ownership for copyright certificates.
The electronic system allows applicants and rights holders to complete these procedures online, reducing the need for in-person attendance and facilitating faster processing of requests.
These developments form part of Qatar’s broader strategy to modernise its intellectual property infrastructure and improve accessibility to IP protection services for creators and rights holders.
The new services are being provided in accordance with Law No. 7 of 2002 concerning the Protection of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights.
